The Trust, along with a national panel of reviewers, has selected four finalists for the 2013 New Rural Health Award.They are:
- CREANDO NUESTRA SALUD (CREATING OUR HEALTH): A COMMUNITY-BASED APPROACH FOR EARLY BREAST CANCER DETECTION AMONG HISPANIC WOMEN IN NORTH CENTRAL FLORIDA, Rural Women’s Health Project, Florida
- DARE COUNTY SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT PROGRAM, Dare County Department of Public Health, North Carolina
- GRAND IDEAS FROM WITHIN, Grand Ideas from Within, Louisiana
- MOBILE MENTAL HEALTH MEDICATION PROGRAM, Human Services Center, Pennsylvania
The four finalists were selected from a pool of nearly 200 entries from 36 states. The winner will be named at an event on April 26 at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina. Join us at the event to learn more about these outstanding projects to improve rural health.
After the winner is announced, the Trust, potentially in partnership with other funders, will work toward assisting in the North Carolina implementation of one or more of these ideas.
