Evidence-Based Programs

Evidence-based programs are those that have been rigorously evaluated and have a proven track record of success. Various definitions of evidence-based programs and similarly worded terms abound, but what we are concentrating on are the outcomes.

The statewide Nurse Family Partnership program, which pairs first-time moms with nurses who coach them through pregnancy and the early years of parenting; the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) that provides comprehensive care to seniors and helps them stay in their homes longer; and Forsyth County’s Career Start, a program that infuses career relevance into middle schools’ core curricula, are just a few examples of outstanding evidence-based programs the Trust supports.

We believe impact is higher, in most cases, when organizations are able to implement tested models with fidelity. While there is a place for new, breakthrough work, we do not believe in reinventing the wheel. We are interested in working with organizations that can translate successful work to their community and/or the population that they serve.
