Programmatic funds to implement resilience teams in the Edgecombe, Nash, Halifax, and Pasquotank school districts to promote trauma-sensitive schools. This work uses practices from the Trauma and Learning Policy Initiative and evaluation from the Duke Center for Child and Family Policy to provide trainings to teachers and staff on adverse childhood experiences and how to shift school climates. This work sets the stage for other mental health initiatives that school districts may implement to address the unmet behavioral health and trauma-related needs of students. Funds will support one full-time position, supplies, travel, and evaluation.
