- As grand openings go, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new basketball court at Piedmont Circle last week may have fallen below the radar.
It didn’t herald the arrival of hundreds of new jobs nor mark the debut of a new shopping center.
As for impact? It’s hard to measure what it will mean to the kids in one of the poorest and most marginalized communities in Forsyth County.
Thirteen-year-old Nasir Lewis gave it a shot, and he didn’t need a whole lot of words.
“It’s somewhere to go when there’s nowhere else. I can go to the court,” he said during a break from working on his jump shot.
