Ensuring an Equitable Recovery: Addressing Covid-19’s Impact on Education
The annual report provides data on disconnected youth; or teens and young adults ages 16-24 who are neither working nor in school. For the purposes of this report; youth who are actively serving in the military; employed; or enrolled in educational programs part-time are not classified as disconnected. Youth who are actively looking for work are considered disconnected. Measure of America calculated this data using the U.S. Census Bureau’s annual American Community Survey. Along with national statistics, the data is stratified by neighborhood; county; metropolitan area; congressional district; and state. The rates and numbers from the national; state; congressional district; and metro area levels are based on 2021 data.
This tool can be used as an example of how to visualize youth disconnect data.
