The North Carolina Health Professions and Workforce Data System collects and disseminates descriptive data on selected licensed health professionals among counties in North Carolina, including Dental Hygienist, Dentist, Nurse Practitioner, Optometrist, Pharmacist, Physician, Physician Assistant, Primary Care Workforce, Psychologist, Registered Nurse. Data (count) includes active, licensed health professionals practicing in North Carolina as of October 31 of each data year.

This tool is useful to compare the rates (per 10,000 population) of healthcare providers among counties in NC, which can further analyze the trend of the healthcare workforce at a county level and advocate for better access to clinical care.
