The North Carolina Disease Event Tracking and Epidemiologic Tool
The NC Disease Event Tracking and Epidemiologic Collection Tool is a surveillance system that presents opioid overdose ED visit data in North Carolina. It is updated approximately bi-monthly, and users can access the data reports at the state and county levels. Additionally, the ED visits data are stratified by opioid type, age, race and ethnicity, and health insurance coverage. The drug overdose death data are also available from the website. The NC DETECT can be used to track the incidence and prevalence of overdose ED visits and allows public health professionals to identify which populations are more vulnerable to overdose issues.
This data source helps users identify disparities in overdose issues across different populations and geographic areas, which allows users to make comparisons and further informs better interventions for the populations at risk.
