Joining foundations from across the country, the Trust has signed on to the Council on Foundations statement affirming our collective right to provide grants that align with our mission and organizational values.
The American Alliance for Equal Rights (AAER) has sued the Fearless Foundation, an Atlanta-based organization led by Black women, that helps combat underfunding in venture capital by providing grants, tools, and mentorship to women of color. AAER claims that the Fearless Foundation’s program for Black female entrepreneurs is racially discriminatory. The Trust joins the Council on Foundations and Independent Sector in their commitment to protect the rights of philanthropic organizations, nonprofits, and individual donors to support people and communities from all backgrounds, especially those who have been historically marginalized.
