Medicaid is the lynchpin to improving access to health care for communities that have been historically and systemically underserved in North Carolina and around the country. But access to insurance coverage alone is not enough.
That is why the Kate B, Reynolds Charitable Trust invests in the power of communities to strengthen programs that support community health and target health coverage enrollment outreach to underserved, under-enrolled rural and immigrant communities and communities of color. As a part of that commitment, the Trust and its grantee partners are building a robust feedback network working directly with Medicaid members to make sure that their personal experiences shape policy decisions.
With policymakers debating proposals to cut federal funding for Medicaid or implement unnecessary work requirements for the program, some of the Trust’s equitable access to care partners recently met to discuss their collective work and current concerns.
