Attitudes Related to Trauma-Informed Care Scale (ARTIC-10)

Developed by the Traumatic Stress Institute, the Attitudes Related to Trauma-Informed Care Scale is a tool to assess attitudes that inform beliefs and behaviors around trauma-informed care. The tool rates the individual’s level of trauma-informed thinking and care in interacting with clients, students, patients, etc.

As an individual-level tool, the scale could be used to provide baseline data, and subsequent evaluation data following training or interventions, and is applicable to any client-facing field. The limitation of the tool is hard to interpret change, and users would need attention to the context when using it.

The ARTIC-10 can be used to identify areas where individuals or organizations may need additional education or training to improve their understanding and implementation of TIC principles. Also, it can provide a benchmark for comparison across different organizations or sectors, allowing for a better understanding of how attitudes and beliefs towards TIC vary across settings.
