Invest in Rural North Carolina to Ensure a Thriving State, Pandemic or Not

By the numbers, where I grew up—rural Robeson County—is one of the most impoverished areas of our state, but I would never describe my community that way. I was surrounded by family, teachers, preachers, and neighbors who gave their time and talent to our small town of Lumberton and to me. Rural residents care deeply about their communities and the people who live there.
