Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System
The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is a system of state-based telephone surveys that collects info about chronic disease and injury risk behaviors, preventive health practices, and access to health care. Each year, BRFSS conducts more than 400,000 adult interviews, making it the largest continuous health survey program in the world. State health departments administer BRFSS surveys continuously throughout the year with technical and methodological assistance from CDC.
Data from the BRFSS can be used to identify emerging health problems, set and track health objectives, and create and evaluate public health policies and programs.
