The North Carolina Justice Data Portal offers centralized data surrounding criminal offenses by state and county, county crime profiles in NC, crime victims demographics, reporting agencies in NC, and traffic stops. The data are from the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). The data portal is a resource for secondary data for progress monitoring, population and county-level monitoring and evaluation, and assessment of need.

It helps increase public transparency and accountability in the criminal justice system. It also allows stakeholders to study trends and patterns in criminal justice, identify areas for improvement, allocate resources to areas in need, and monitor progress over time.
