Resilience Scale

The Resilience Scale is a valid and reliable self-assessment tool for individuals to measure their resilience, which is composed of 14 questions scaled from 1 (strongly disagree) to 7 (strongly agree) to assess if individuals are proud of themselves, feel they are equipped to handle difficult experience, find joy in their life, and feel they can rely on themselves. This tool generally takes 3-4 minutes to complete and has over 30 languages available besides English and Spanish. It would be appropriate as an activity for individuals to promote self-reflection on their mental health and wellness. Moreover, it can serve as an evaluation tool of self-management illness and health promoting behaviors.

It can be used to assess a client’s resilience level and identify areas where support and intervention may be needed in clinical settings. Additionally, it might be used in educational and training settings to help individuals better understand their resilience level or ability to adapt to stress and adversity and develop coping strategies for building resilience.
