Dr. Laura Gerald speaks in rural NC about how the Trust is supporting communities amidst threats and budget cuts.
In these times, standing up for change has become ever more urgent.
For those of us working to improve health, education, and economic opportunity among historically marginalized people, we are doing so in a social climate and policy environment that feels frighteningly regressive.
As budgets get slashed and people’s rights are violated, we are experiencing an attack on our collective well-being. We must stand up for people who are scared to take their children to school or to the doctor, who have a serious health concern but no way to get care, who don’t know how they’re going to feed their families.
At the Trust, we are here for such a time as this.
To respond to the barrage of attacks, we have adjusted our annual grantmaking—from an average of $20 million annually to approximately $30 million. We must all do more in every way we can. Join us.
