The Trust Announces Mary Weaver as Grants Assistant

The Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust is pleased to announce Mary Weaver joined the Trust in March as the Grants Assistant.

In her role at the Trust, Mary will work alongside the grants administrator as a resource and point-of-contact for organizations seeking funding opportunities. In partnership with the evaluation and program teams, she will work throughout the grant cycle to assist with research and evaluation of current grants and outcomes related to the work on the ground. Mary will also support the team internally through database management and maintenance of various Trust technology systems.

“We’re so excited to have Mary join the Trust team,” said Alison Duncan, grants administrator at the Trust. “Her public policy and technology background, as well as her warm spirit, adds new capacity and expertise to the grants administration team.”

As a citizenship tutor for the Refugee Support Center, Mary leveraged her education in immigration policy to serve and advocate for the specific needs of individuals and families completing the naturalization process. She also developed several strategies and teaching methods to aid learning and tailored her approach to a variety of educational backgrounds.

“The opportunity to cultivate meaningful relationships with students allowed me to experience their culture, and it broadened my worldview,” said Mary Weaver, grants assistant at the Trust. “Now I am excited to start my career at the Trust and make an impact on my home state of North Carolina, while focusing on systems change.”

During her time at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Mary was a student assistant for their media and design center. She served students by coordinating sessions with technical experts and specialists, managed and organized over 25,000 media items housed in the library, and took on multiple projects to develop video, podcast, and graphic content.

Mary holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and grew up in Walnut Cove, NC where she currently lives with her family.
